Skalnatá Chata, in cooperation with the TANAP Administration, is opening an exhibition dedicated to Tatra flora. The event, combined with forest education, will also commemorate, after six years, the memory of porter legend Laco Kulanga.
An Information Centre of the TANAP Administration has been established at Skalnatá Chata. One of its regular activities is the Forest Education Under the Rock programme, where forestry experts introduce visitors to the life of the forest directly at the mountain chalet.
On 14 September, they decided to combine this educational activity with the opening of a botanical garden, created on the foundations of the original chalet, which introduces guests to the flora of Skalnatá Valley.
The date of the event was chosen to coincide with the sixth anniversary of the passing of Laco Kulanga, a legendary figure in Tatra mountain porterage, who, after more than 50 years of carrying loads, was known for the saying: “Words are unnecessary.”
Skalnatá Chata is one of the oldest mountain chalets in the Tatras. It is located in Skalnatá Valley and is open year-round.
