When a new convalescent home for the Moravian Life Insurance Company was built beneath the majestic Lomnický Peak between 1931 and 1933, few could have imagined that a legend was being born. Today, this gem of functionalist architecture is one of the most significant national cultural monuments in the High Tatras.

“The building is a masterpiece by the legendary architect Bohuslav Fuchs, whose visionary style gave the hotel’s architecture an entirely new face. The hotel underwent a sensitive and comprehensive reconstruction between 2024 and 2026, carried out with deep respect for its original functionalist architecture. Its authentic spirit and unmistakable character have been carefully preserved. The iconic staircases, original railings, clean glass details, and bold concrete structures are not here by chance. Their precise preservation is our conscious decision and an expression of the highest respect for the history of this exceptional building.
