Priečne sedlo via Ferrata

Since the summer of 2021, you can diversify the demanding crossing over the saddle Priečne sedlo by using a new secured road – the so-called via ferrata, which runs parallel to the original chains in the exposed terrain. To start this secured route, use the same starting point as for the classic pass of Priečne sedlo. The ferrata itself is one-way, the crossing is from Mala Studena dolina (Téryho chata) to Veľká Studená dolina (Zbojnícka chata). Its difficulty is A – the use of a ferrata set (= seat harness, ferrata brake and helmet) is recommended. The ferrata rope runs above the existing chains and takes you a little higher above the saddle Priečne sedlo. The descent to the Great Cold Valley is also newly secured. Although the ascent via ferrata is relatively short, the secured part itself will take you about half an hour, so do not forget that the whole loop from Hrebienok is a demanding all-day hike and reserve at least 9 hours for it. Start early in the morning to avoid heat storms.

Note: Crossing the Priečne sedlo using classic chains is still two-way.
