Tatry Card returns in a new digital form. It offers guests transportation, insurance and benefits in the region
Starý Smokovec a okolie
The High Tatras introduce a new version of the Tatry Card. The digital guest card is designed to make it easier for visitors to access transport, insurance and the offers of regional partners during their stay. For accommodation providers and other service providers, it also creates a simpler way to connect guests with everything the region has to offer.
Tatry Card aims to be more than just a discount card. The new solution, launched at the beginning of August 2026, is built around a digital card that visitors have directly on their mobile phones. It connects guests staying in the region with transport, Mountain Rescue Service insurance and the offers of partner businesses across the region.
How does Tatry Card work?
For guests staying with a participating accommodation provider in the High Tatras, Tatry Card is free of charge. Once activated, the guest receives the digital card directly by email and can use it to access individual benefits throughout their stay. The card is also available to visitors who are not staying at participating accommodation providers; they can purchase and activate it for a fee. There are two options available: a 3-day card, ideal for a short trip or a long weekend in the Tatras, and a 7-day card, designed for a full week-long stay.
To obtain a free Tatry Card, visitors must stay with a participating accommodation provider in the High Tatras. They then activate the card via the website, enter the required information about themselves and their stay, and, after verification, receive the digital card directly by email.

The digital card is about more than just a new website
The renewal of Tatry Card was not simply a matter of changing its format from a plastic card to a digital one. As Lenka Potočná, Executive Director, explains: „There is much more work behind the new Tatry Card than is visible at first glance. It was not simply about creating a new card or website, but about building a modern digital system that connects accommodation providers, visitors, the digital guest book, travel services and other partners across the region.“
According to her, one of the key challenges was setting up the entire process so that it would be as simple as possible for accommodation providers while also providing visitors with a safe and convenient solution. The system was therefore developed gradually, with its individual components tested and configured in cooperation with regional partners. „The result is a solution that is intended to create a strong foundation for the further development of Tatry Card and the digitalisation of tourism services in the High Tatras,“ she adds.
A Benefit for Guests, an Opportunity for the Region
The new system is intended to benefit not only visitors themselves, but the entire local HoReCa sector. If a guest discovers another restaurant, attraction, wellness facility or activity thanks to a single card, part of their spending remains in the region. „For accommodation providers, Tatry Card primarily offers a simpler and more modern way of engaging with guests, while also allowing them to offer added value during their stay. For the entire HoReCa sector and other partners, it is important that Tatry Card creates opportunities to better connect individual services and present the region’s offer directly to visitors,“ explains Lenka Potočná.
The aim of the entire project is to strengthen local tourism so that visitors stay longer in the Tatras and discover more of what the region has to offer.
„Our goal is for the entire region to benefit – for visitors to stay longer, use more services, visit more places and take away an even better experience from the High Tatras. We therefore see Tatry Card as a shared platform that can support local tourism while also strengthening cooperation between accommodation providers, service providers and other partners,“ concludes the Executive Director.
Tatry Card is currently in the pilot phase of the 2026 summer season. At the same time, the card creates an opportunity for regional service providers to join a shared offer for visitors to the Tatras, which will continue to expand. Connecting accommodation, gastronomy, transport, leisure activities and other services can be one of the ways to offer visitors a more comprehensive destination experience.
